Industrial Casters
Comprehensive caster solutions including medium-duty, shock-absorbing, shopping cart, leveling, and floor lock casters for industrial applications.
About This Category
Our Industrial Casters range covers every application from medium-duty material handling to specialized environments. The C513 series delivers high-rebound polyurethane performance, the C721 dual-shock series handles rough terrain, while our shopping cart and leveling casters serve retail and precision applications. All casters feature Herdar proprietary polyurethane compounds engineered for longevity.
Key Features
How to Choose the Right Casters
Caster selection involves installation type, load capacity, dimensions, material, and operating environment. Each factor directly impacts mobility, durability, and safety.
Load Capacity Calculator
T = (E + Z) / n × S — enter your values to get the required load per wheel
Type & Installation
Common caster mounting types include top plate (swivel or rigid), stem, hollow kingpin, and side bracket mounting. Your equipment type determines the mounting style. Pay attention to bolt hole patterns, stem diameter, and overall length.
Swivel
360° rotation for maximum maneuverability in tight spaces.
Rigid
Fixed direction for straight-line tracking and stability.
Top Plate
Four-bolt mounting for maximum strength and stability.
Hollow Kingpin
Through-bolt mounting for flush installation.
Stem
Quick-insert mounting for light-duty equipment.
Load Calculation
To calculate caster load capacity, know your equipment self-weight, maximum payload, and the number of casters. Always include a safety margin.
A hand truck has 4 casters. The truck weighs 100 kg and transports 500 kg of equipment.
(500 + 100) / 4 × 1.5 = 225→ Each caster must be rated for at least 225 kg.
Specifications
To ensure the caster fits your equipment, confirm key dimensions: wheel diameter, wheel width, overall height, and offset (swivel radius). Match these to your equipment's mounting requirements.
- Wheel Diameter (mm) — Determines load capacity and rolling ease.
- Wheel Width (mm) — Affects stability and ground contact pressure.
- Overall Height (mm) — Total caster height from mounting surface to floor.
- Plate Size (mm) — Mounting plate length × width and bolt hole spacing.
- Swivel Radius (mm) — Minimum clearance required for full 360° rotation.
Material
Caster wheels come in nylon, polyurethane, polypropylene, rubber, and cast iron. Different environments require different materials. See the Single Wheel guide for detailed material properties.
| Material | Tread Hardness | Running Quietness |
|---|---|---|
| Pneumatic / Soft Rubber | Soft | ★★★★★ |
| Elastic Rubber / Elastic PU | Medium-Soft | ★★★★☆ |
| Solid Rubber | Medium | ★★★☆☆ |
| Polyurethane (PU) | Hard | ★★☆☆☆ |
| Cast Iron / Nylon / PP | Very Hard | ★☆☆☆☆ |
Application Scenarios
Select casters based on floor surface, obstacles, environmental residue (chips, grease), temperature conditions, and required load capacity.
Super-Heavy-Duty Casters
Steel-reinforced casters rated for 2,000+ kg in foundries, shipyards, and heavy machinery.
Shock-Absorbing Casters
Spring-loaded casters for uneven floors, dock plates, and equipment requiring vibration isolation.
Light-to-Medium Casters
Standard-duty casters for warehouse carts, platform trucks, and general material handling.
